Abstract

Introduction: Sampling and investigation on macrobenthos community to calculate some ecological indices to assess the quality of sediments was carried out.
Material & Methods: Sampling was carried out in 8 locations in coast line of Bandar Abbass including Fishery Jetty, Dulat Park, coast of Hormuz Island, between Qeshm and Hormoz Island, Langargah, Suru, Posht-e-Shahr and Gursuzan was carried out from Apr to
Aug 2018 with a van veen grab.7 indices including Margalef, Shanon, Evenes, Berger Parker, Sympson, K-Dominant and ABC curve were calculated.
Results: Minimum and Maximum values obtained for Margalef 4.83 and 5.68 in Hormoz Island and Gursuzan respectively indicating the studied areas are unpolluted , 1.05 and 1.42 in Langargah and Fishery Jetty Respectively indicating that the studied areas are polluted, 0.61 and 0.83 in Fishery Jetty and Langargah for Evenes that is the mix of ,Margalef and Shanon, indicating the studied locations is unpolluted, 0.14 and 0.19 in Posht-e- Shahr and Fishery Jetty for Berger Parker indicating that unpolluted areas and the same as Berger- Parker' result obtained for Sympson , K-Dominant for Langargah, Suru and Gursuzan was Bad and for rest was good quality and finally ABC curve in all areas suggested bad quality.
Conclusion: Results showed that 70 percent of indices suggested good quality in studied area so it can be said that these areas are unpolluted.
