Abstract

A global problem causing biodiversity loss, degradation of the livelihoods of the people, and the disruption of ecosystems is human-wildlife conflict (HWC). These issues usually arise when humans and wildlife come into conflict over food and space, which results in the destruction of crops and the killing of livestock, as well as the injury or death of people. The present paper analyzes the combination of the three scientific disciplines-based approaches to the decrease of the human-wildlife conflict utilizing ecological, behavioral, and social concepts. Their study entails field surveys, monitoring changes in the land through satellite images, and conducting interviews with the people in the areas of the conflicts, e.g., those between the wild predators and the farmers. As an ecology part, the research inspects the movement patterns of the animals and the breakup of their territories. Human beings and animals are also studied in the paper to better comprehend the behavioral aspect, which focuses on cultural attitudes, risk perceptions, and responses to the problem. From the social angle, the paper reviews the local people's practice of participating in environmental protection and the influence of the current law on that matter. Firstly, the main points of the paper stress the necessity of a comprehensive, diverse approach that unites the topics of the environmental (for instance, saving the corridor), behavioral (for example, educating people on how to respond), and social aspects (e.g., co-management). According to the statistical data, there was a 30% decline in the number of conflict cases in the areas where community-based conservation programs were conducted compared to the zones under traditional government management. Besides this, the implementation of knowledge led to a 25% reduction of predator-killing activities carried out as a means of retaliation. The paper suggests that permanent HWC solutions should be realized through continuous collaborations beyond disciplines that are necessary for the flexible and scalable strategy development. They argue that subsequent inquiries ought to center on anticipatory management and the broader dissemination of the community-driven conservation successes in the international arena.
