Abstract

Wildlife preservation has always been premised on ecological and enforcement-based systems, and
in most cases, human activities have been viewed as external forces of the system instead of living
components. This has curtailed the effectiveness of conservation interventions in the long run,
especially where non-compliance, unlawful exploitation, and human-wildlife conflict continue to
exist. Here, this paper will analyze the role of including human behavioral change into conservation
models in improving the success of wildlife protection by making behavior endogenous and
adaptive within the socio-ecological systems. A comprehensive conceptual framework is created
linking the ecological system conditions to human behavioral force and intervention policy by
adaptive feedback. By comparing and contrasting the secondary-data-based approach, the
performance of conservation using traditional ecological-only models is compared and contrasted
to the performance of the models using behavior-integrated models based on ecological, social, and
economic measures. The analysis shows that behavioral dynamics in conservation models get much
better results. Behavior-based models eliminate poaching problems by nearly half and also illegal
logging reduce cases by 60.0%, but community compliance is doubled to 78%. These gains in
behavior are linked to considerable ecological profits, such as the growth of the population of
species increasing 2.1% to 6.4% yearly and a decline in indices of habitat degradation of over 50%.
The proportional change in wildlife population, managed according to the behavior-integrated
models, rises by 1,200 to 1,830 individuals in five years, compared to the population growth of
1,200 to 1,275 individuals under classic models, which is an approximate 43.5 % higher population
growth. The cost-efficiency analysis also shows that behavior-based interventions are better in
terms of conservation results at a reduced marginal cost per unit population change. On the whole,
the results indicate that the explicit consideration of human behavioral change in conservation
models is an effective way to enhance the effectiveness of the role of wildlife protection. The
recommended framework offers an ecologically, socially, and longer-lasting foundation to design
conservation strategies, which are scalable and flexible.
