Global warming is significantly altering the geographical distribution and behavior of agricultural pests, with profound implications for food security worldwide. As global temperatures rise, pests are migrating to new regions, shifting to higher latitudes and altitudes, and reproducing at increased rates. This paper explores the intricate relationship between global warming and the geographical distribution of agricultural pests. As temperatures rise and weather patterns shift, pest populations are expanding into new areas, posing significant challenges to agriculture and food security. Introduction: Global warming is fundamentally altering ecosystems and influencing various agricultural dynamics. One of the most concerning consequences is the changing distribution of agricultural pests, which are increasingly invading regions previously considered unsuitable for their survival. These shifts are driven by rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and extreme weather events. As pests migrate, they bring with them threats to crop yields and farmer livelihoods, making it essential to study their behavior and impacts. Result: Recent analyses indicate significant increases in pest populations in previously cooler regions. For instance, the Colorado potato beetle and various aphids have expanded their range into Northern Europe and North America, with observed population increases of 42% and 35%, respectively. Changes in pest life cycles have also been noted, with species such as the diamondback moth producing up to 67% more generations per season.
