Abstract

This study was done for identifying the Myctophidae fish of the Iranian waters of Oman Sea, during February to June 2011. A new species (Diaphus effulgens) was identified and report for the first time. This specimen was caught with midwater trawl from mesopelagic depth (410 m and 57º 50' E / 25º 29' N - 57º 46' E / 25º 31' N position) of Oman Sea at Hormuzgan province waters.
