Abstract

The research problem addressed in this paper includes how farming activities affect the pollinator diversity and the sustainability of ecosystem services. The use of pesticides, monoculture farming, and habitat destruction has been associated with declining pollinator populations, which contribute to biodiversity and food security. The main goal of the study is to determine the impact of various agricultural methods on the ecological diversity of pollinators and their long-term sustainability on ecosystem services, specifically pollination. The research uses a mix of field surveys to track pollinator populations, coupled with biodiversity and ecosystem service measurements across various agricultural systems. The approaches are to compare pollinator diversity between organic and conventional farming systems, assess the impact of pesticide use, and examine landscape factors such as habitat fragmentation. The findings indicate that organic agricultural systems with lower pesticide use and greater habitat heterogeneity are associated with increased pollinator diversity despite monoculture. Also, greater crop and natural habitat diversity makes areas more resilient, increasing pollination services and the sustainability of ecosystem services. The results emphasize the need to use agroecological methods to prevent adverse effects on pollinators, thereby ensuring biodiversity preservation and sustainable agricultural production.
