Abstract

Introduction: This study aimed to investigate biological characteristics and population
structure of green tiger shrimp (Penaeus semisulcatus) (non-bonding) in waters of
Hormozgan province.
Materials & Methods: Sampling of shrimp population was done monthly in fishing
ground of Sirik to Tula on Qeshm Island in Hormozgan province during two time periods
(January 2016- July 2017 and January 2017- December 2017).
Results: The results showed that the density of this species in different depth layers had
significant differences and the its highest abundance was often found at depths above 20
m and in fishing areas between Sirik to the east of Hormoz Island. The maximum catch
per unit of effort (CPUE) for this species was from June to September.
Conclusion: Therefore, it can be inferred that the best time to catch this species is at that
time.
